Tip Engraving

Description

Our sharpened tempered steel tips are used by the engraver to draw on zinc plates. Every time you scratch a slab with a tip, tracing some marks with it you have a drypoint. The peculiarity is that the tip does not cut the metal by removing it (as in the case of the burin), but merely moves it with the force of the pressure exerted. The furrows that are obtained are not too deep and show a slight rise of the metal on the sides, due to its displacement determined by the tip. These “barbs” that are raised during the incision phase are not removed and, retaining the ink, give the mark a softness that makes the drypoint particularly recognizable, characterized by a black and suffused halo that, when printed, appears next to to the incised lines. They can also be used for embossing, for ceramics and for sculpture. Length between centers 13 cm.

Le nostre punte in acciaio temprato affilate vengono usate dall’incisore per disegnare sulle lastre di zinco. Ogni qualvolta si scalfisce una lastra con una punta, tracciando con essa alcuni segni si ha una puntasecca. La particolarità è che la punta non taglia il metallo asportandolo (come nel caso del bulino), ma si limita a spostarlo con la forza della pressione esercitata. I solchi che si ottengono non sono troppo profondi e mostrano ai lati un leggero rialzo del metallo, dovuto al suo spostamento determinato dalla punta. Queste “barbe” che si sollevano durante la fase di incisione non vengono tolte e, trattenendo l’inchiostro, danno al segno una morbidezza che rende la puntasecca particolarmente riconoscibile, caratterizzata da un alone nerastro e soffuso che, in fase di stampa, appare accanto ai tratti incisi. Inoltre possono essere utilizzate anche per l’incisione a sbalzo, per la ceramica e per la scultura.
